While I havent quite figured out why, If you use a Harley 2017+ GPS or a BMW Navigator, please use the "Honda" GPX file. I am not sure if this is the same issue with other GPX units as well but these two I can confirm
Beautiful roads around Danville. Not the typical ones which means not much of 66 or Route 8 or 89 etc. But surely a fun ride
Ride to the famous Back Of The Dragon. 32 miles, 438 curves and 3500 elevation. Combine it with VA66 and you have one of the most awesome routes you can cover in a single day from Raleigh. Though the riding time itself is 11 hours so surely want to leave early from Raleigh and plan on a late return.
Mind blowing road that includes NC80/Devils Whip, Double Island Rd, 261/143 all the way to Roan Mountain crossing Roan High Knob. Then 221, BRP and then to 30+ mins of gravel via Elk Creek Rd to 268. Home via Wilkesboro
This routes covers Stone Mountain, Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock from Raleigh. Stone mountain and Hanging rock both require a substantial hike from the parking lot but Pilot Mountain has great views right where you park.
